How do you remove the wiper arm assembly (to pull off cowl)?

I popped the cap off the assembly which exposes a nut (see pic1). I removed the nut and figured you would just pull the assembly up and off (see pic 2). However it still seems very securely fastened. I pulled with some force but didn't want to go further in case I broke something. Am I missing a step or going about it wrong?

Thanks much!

After cap is popped off exposing nut:

What year is the truck? On the 04 and up, there is a little llocking arm you move over then you pull the arm straight up.

Mine just pulled right off. I guess you can spray it down with something to loosen it up, just make sure to wipe it all off once you put it back on.

Thanks. For some reason I just can't pull either off after removing the nut. I guess it's stuck on there good. i'll try something to loosen it up a little.

OK cool...I sprayed WD40 and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. They came right off after that.

I did that too...without being overly aggressive with it...mine is stuck. I'll probably try lubing it up again and trying
