AC Clutch on 4.2 V6

This is something I asked about before but never got around to fixing.

My AC clutch is not cycling. If I give the pulley a wack with a piece of 2 x 2 it starts turning but when it cycles off, it won't start again. When it's spinning I get AC so it working, just the clutch is hinky. When I'm at a stop light and I get out of the cab with my hunk of wood people start freakin' out

project SHO89
said it's extremely common. "Remove the clutch plate and remove a shim. Correct gap to be .014" - .030"!
I gapped the spark plugs but it's still not spinning

I removed the small bolt from the center of the pulley but couldn't get anything to come off.

Does the drive belt need to be removed.

Can anyone or perhaps Mr. SHO89 himself elaborate on this procedure. Please be wordy.

I'm as dumb as a stump and need detailed help please.

With the bolt removed, use a screwdriver (or a pair of them) to gently pry the clutch plate off. The shim(s), if present, will be between the snout of the compressor shaft and the inside of the clutch plate receiver.

There is no need to remove the belt to work on the plate, only if you need to remove the pulley.
