2001 Grille Upgrade...

The grille on my 2001 F-150 XLT is looking pretty tired. The truck over all looks great, but this grille is just bringing it down.

I'm looking to replace it with a Billet grille, what's a good source? I see there are a few brands out there with alot of styles.

What are my options?

The tired grille all faded.

Something basic like that? It says cutout style how difficult is that? Any advice experience? Thanks guys.

If I were you.. I would invest in a bottle of krylon fusion satin black. Its spray paint that bonds to plastic. You could have that grille off of your truck in like 10-15 minutes provided the clips arent being a PITA and paint that sucker. It would look brand new, and should stay that way for awhile. I did mine, and it came out really nice. My grille was grey before.

I really like that honeycomb look. I might hit up the local boneyard for one.

Not a bad idea with the paint. I'm sort of torn between the chrome or a honey comb now.

I have the same grille as you and that same old faded color. I just sprayed mine with 2-3 coats of Krylon Fusion Satin Black. I didn't even take it out, i just masked off the edges and the logo. Took me 10 minutes. It's been about 6 months or so and there are no chips and its not fading.

I just picked up a billet grill for $46 shipped off ebay, theres 2 kinds. An insert that goes over your grill (not sure if it works for yours, typically it goes over the honey comb style) and the full grill that goes behind the surround which is what I got. I have 2 of the honeycomb grills, 1 gray and one blue.

Thats just after installing it, I have since aligned some of the bars that you can see in the pic that are a little out.

Its a toss up between the stock honeycomb or a billet. I was trying to balance out some of the chrome/black I got going so I figured it would fit it better

This is what a bolt over would look like

If i were you i'd get one that you have to cut to install because if you install a bolt over without painting it flat black it will show through all the time, and you have to remove the ford emblem off the front in order to bolt it over which requires taking the plastic shell out anyway. Even though i painted mine flat black when the sun shines on it you can still see the plastic underneath a little, but on overcast days like the one in that picture the brushed aluminum one looks so damn cool.

You don't have to cut it to fit, you remove the stock grill (clips on the back) and the style I got just goes behind the grill surround and the edges are hidden flush behind it.

That's pretty much exactly what I want. So I would remove my factory grille and replace it with that...

Can I get the Ebay link or perhaps the sellers info? There are alot of them listed.

Thanks.

maybe try looking for a 2000 Harley Davidson F150 grille. It looks very similar to a billet grille but its plastic and best of all it has an OEM fit!

Billet is cool, but a street scene mesh grille would look even better!
