I realy like the way your truck turn out Klitch, most of the time with a SAS on F150 they sit 10 feet high and look like poo (at least in my opnion). Yours still looks like something your can live with and still retain some usefullness of the solid axle swap.
Klitch's setup just wouldnt have enough clearance for what I do with my truck. |

Sorry but my sas is 19.5" of lift on 44" tsl's and it is the perfect usefullness for what I use it for.

But i dont even have anything to put a camper on, no bed. Could you imagine how top heavy that would be  |
Cecil's on his side again, a 6mph wind gust came through.
|
Shocks ordered. Hope to rub them on friday for good luck.
Gonna have to make an adapter for the rear shock, they wanted $35 each shock to outfit them with the stem mount for the rears. |

Done! Drove to work and back, cant wait for front springs to settle, right now it rides like my dads stock suspension on his 3/4 ton.
Rear axle hit 145* after 25 min of driving, concerns me some but ambient temps are already over 100* Parked next to my dads 00 on 37's and 2" leveling. http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...012_422072.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p.../2/1/5/014.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...016_775916.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...017_214631.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...020_105519.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...021_753998.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p.../2/1/5/022.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...024_702258.jpg |
Looks good man. Nice work
|
Like somebody said earlier, now that is how this truck should look. I may have missed this, but how much lift did you get with this? I'm subscribed to take this all in. Very nice work you've done there, good job:beers:
|
Thanks!
with the 4.5" brackets, and 2 " leafs, supposedly netted me 8" over the factory. The rears a 7" alcan leaf, so I'd say thats about right at 8" up front. |
That's awsome..nice job
|
I subscribed to this thread just to watch it unfold.
Very nice work-now maybe you can keep gears in the rear! |
I forsee a diesel swap in the trucks future???

i really like how your truck came together man.
yours is definitely one of my site favorites |
We're going for day 3 of consecutive drives to work and back! no shimmy's no shakes, I have a little bit of "play" feel to the tie-rod I installed, gonna have to look into that see if something settled.
I do keep getting a low growl on left turns, I fear its the hub but so far it looks like the tire rubs the leafs. |
I firgured you would have some rubbing issues with the leaf springs. IF/ when you look for new wheels try to find something with less back spacing. 2.5" is what I HAD now im looking for something with 2". I doubt you wanna go that wide so id say a set of 16x10 with 3" of back spacing should kill your rubbing issue. Thats figuring that the wheels you have now are 4.5" of back spacing.
look great. I thought you rebuilt the axles? |
I'm not sure what the BS on these wheels are, theyre the ones that were on my dads f250 when they bought it in 2000. You're probably right about 4.5" They just barely rub, less than 1/8" on the leafs.
Not rebuilt yet, I cleaned them up and saved the money I'd need for gears to buy shocks. 3.73's are OK right now, still smokes them like its nobody's business. Front axle has fresh ball joints is about it. |
dude i wana do that to mine! nice truck man!
|
You wont like the total bill. I've gotta dig and find all the receipts.
|
lol i bet! if i did it id proly fab a lot of it myself! i like doin stuff like that lol let me know how mutch all that was man!
|
Lookin at about $4500 area without the front driveline yet.
|
You got off fairly cheap, that's honestly not a bad price.

 Sounds cheap to you but you've done yours twice. This took most of my income tax return and some saving.
It did turn out very clean, rides pretty damn nice for being on fresh springs. I'm thinking about making a rear lift block, and taking 1 leaf out to see if it changes the ride quality on small bumps but not sure if its a bad idea? |
well my first one was 4k but this one will be around 6K if I add the motor im looking at 8k
Even the average if you were to ask Jesse what he would set aside he would tell you 5-7K if you do it yourself. |
I got lucky, I didnt have to pay full out on calipers, or overhaul the carrier/pinion bearings. outer wheel bearings never break 120 yet. Rotors stay cool to the touch (not hauling obviously). This is how ford should'a done these trucks.
|
Truck is officially named Stitches now.

|
On road? Already been done, laid lots of old rubber
Off road, working on the driveshaft issue. |
I hope it's a fun off road romp
|
Nah, off road will be bland until I get off these rotten bald AT's. I just wanna see how well it flexes now.
|
Okay, so how much did those Fox Shocks set you back ? Nice job man.
|
130-138 pc. Riding better now on washboards than it ever did.

Nice job it looks great. I think im gonna have to do a SAS on my truck now.
|
Look its hooked up!
http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...001_720172.jpg Adapter in place, needs countersunk deeper. http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...004_977740.jpg The hole, it needs cleaned up and probably widened up too. http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...002_314263.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p.../005_65977.jpg http://www.fordtruckclub.net/forum/p...006_343632.jpg |
my damn near 4ft tall mound, no parking brake so I stopped when I could without putting massive load on the park pawl.
