So my buddy has an 03 FX4 and it has been making a god awful squeak when you shake the front end and turn the wheels. We narrowed it down to the drivers side and took the wheel off and sprayed lube on all bushings. Unfortunately the balljoints are sealed so we could not grease them. We took the tie rod off and swiveled the steering knuckle and still heard the squeak. Could this be the lower ball joint?? It does not feel loose at all just squeaks like a mother. I need Help!!

 

Lift the truck up in the front, grab the tire top and bottom and push/pull. If you feel play in the suspension= ball joint, beit top or bottom wherever it's felt. You may even hear that squeek. Definetely get greaseable ones if they are the culprit.

 

So we went out on a limb bought the lower ball joint, and presto the squeek was gone!! But if you are gonna undertake this little project you will need a press!! Blue we got the moog with a zerk (spelling??) fitting on it. Thanks
