questions about lifting a 99..

My 99 F150 is currently stock, with the exception of the 295/70/17's that I'm currently running. I will be upgrading my tires and wheels soon, and would love to squeeze in some 295/70/18 nitto trail grapplers. My truck has the offroad package, and it appears to me to currently sit level. Any clue what mod's I would need to make to squeeze these 34.5" on my truck? I don't really want to alter my ride quality if possible, and I don't really have the $$ expensive lift. I had thought about going with one of the leveling kits in front, and maybe doing an Add-a-leaf and/or lift shackle in the back. Any advice about this setup? How much lift could I expect to get with a aal / lift shackle combo in the rear, and how would it impact the ride quality? I'm mainly interested right now in just getting the front up as much as needed to fit this tire, and then simply raising the rear to level it back out. Thoughts??

Thanks,
Joey

First off: going from a 17" Rim to a 18" Rim in the same size tire is not going to be any taller than have you have now....

If you want to lift it cheaply just Crank your T bars up in the front and put a 1.5 aal in the back and your good to go....although you can fit them without doing anything....I put 35" MT's on 16x10 rock crawlers on my truck with just a T bar crank...

I had to get a 3in body lift and 3 in blocks with cranked aftermarket torsion bars to fit 315/70/17 's on my 2001 extended cab.

WHAT?! you defiantly dont need 3" body and torsion bars cranked for 34.4" tall tires. There is a guy on here with 37's with that combo!

Westtinfx4, yes the tire size is going to get bigger from a 295/70/17 (33.3") to 295/70/18 (34.3"). Because that's just how metric tire sizing works, the "70" is a ratio not a measurement.

Well, I was thinking the same think concerning the 295/70 tire sizes, but my current Nitto Terra Grappler 295/70/17's specs say that they were 33.19" in diameter, whereas the ones that I want, Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70/18 specs say that they are 34.57" in diameter. So even though they are both 295/70's, it seems that the the 18's are 1.5" taller. Now granted the tires are actually different as well, so I guess that could be the reason.

As far a cranking the Tbars go, is there any cons to doing this? Does the ride suffer any, or will it cause others things to wear-out quicker?

I've definitely thought about the need to re-gear. I'm currently run the stock 3.55's. I may just have to stick with some 33's this time around until I have the money to re-gear. How expensive does it run on average for re-gearing?
Thanks,
Joey

I got them measurements from a metric tire converter online (4lo.com)

Yes your ride will be stiffer, but that depends on how much you lift your front end. And yes also depending on how far you lift your frontend things will wear quicker (mainly ball joints)

I ran 35x12.5 BFG A/T's on stock 7.5" wide wheels, for a coupla years, without even cranking my T-Bars, or adding any rear lift. I had to trim a corner of the Valance off, which was not noticable at all, and they would rub at full lock. Now, with the 6" lift, and T-Bars cranked, I think it looks better.
