How hard will this be
I have a 97 scab and i want to know if it is possible and how hard it would be to put the stock ford step bars on my truck. i just truned the t-bars a few turns and put in 285's and the gf is 5'1" and hates getting into my truck.
thanks in advance.

lol mine has westin's, they were new a few months ago, it was only two brackets, like 4 bolts total I believe. OEM ford ones use tons of little bolts and small clips that clip onto the rocker....they sort of suck.
thanks for the help
i was under my dads supercrew the other day and i think there is maybe 2 bolts at each end of the step bar.. or maybe 4, either way they look simple..

I agree.
I'll throw in another vote for westin, totally easy to isntall. Mine have held up great for the 7+ years I've had em installed. They've also saved my paint on quite a few occasions from large on\off road debris.
what kind of shape are your rockers in? if you get some that mount to the rockers make damn sure they are in good enough shape to hold the wieght of a person. i cant imagine how bad it would suck to step on one and then it break off. i dont know how westin mounts, but i would look for something frame mounted if possible.

I'll probably end up just sanding and refinishing the ones that are already on there, but we'll see.
Scratch that. I looked up the Westin Signature Series and saw their instructions at AutoAnything.com. Their mounting system of sandwiching the rocker panel and bracing further back seems pretty stout.
Don't know what brand I'd seen the other day, but their system looked a little weak and hair-brained, and required lots of drilling into body panels.
