I ran 285/75/16s for forever and three days with no suspension mods at all.
With that being said, my tires only rubbed when the steering wheel was turned ALL the way either way. It rubbed the sway bar, but its wasnt bad. More like a vibration.
However, installing a lift coil or coil spacer will not keep your 285s from rubbing on the sway bar. The only thing that will stop that would be new wheels OR a lift that give a significant enough lift to clear it. Lift spindles would work fine.
