I just picked up a well maintained 03 with 92k on the clock. I'm realy happy with the truck in general but sometimes I have a problem starting it.

The truck cranks fine and the battery is good but the engine doesn't start right away. Eventually maybe on the 2nd atempt it starts but it idles rough for a few seconds and might shake a bit... After it starts ab alarming amount of black smoke comes out of the exhaust!

After that she runs fine, no other problems. This doesn't happen everytime its maybe 1 in every 3 times when I've left the truck parked for a day or so

anyone have any ideas?

 

Leaky fuel injectors. Try a bottle of Techron in your next 2 tanks of gas.

With 92k, unless they've been done before it's time for new spark plugs.

 

thanks I put some techron in and it hasn't done it since
