2001 engine swap - 4.6 liter to go into a 1997 - 2003 body

Thanks for the comments. Yes, this is a true story. I called her at 6:00 AM to tell her not to drive the truck, the roads were too dangerous. She said OK. Then she called me at 9:00 AM to apologize for wrecking the truck. Fortunately she was not hurt, just shaken up a bit. I never blamed her for the accident, were several circumstances which lead up to the wreck. Wish the news crew was on the top of the hill warning people, instead of at the bottom of the hill filming the carnage for the 6:00 evening news.

I made the cardinal mistake of loaning my 4.6 liter V8 Triton 2001 F-150 4x2 to my female friend for a few days. So of course you know what happened next. You can watch my truck get totalled (filmed live on 11 Alive news Atlanta) at

http://www.11alive.com/video/default...id=60986032001

Questions:

1.) Assuming I use my wiring harness & computer ... can I swap my engine & automatic transmission into any 4x2 body 2001 - 2003 with automatic transmission? Disregard the 4.2 liter 6 cylinder if too complicated (don't want to change rear ends, exhaust systems, radiators, A/C, etc.). I'm looking for an easy swap here.

2.) Will the A/C, radiator, exhaust, brake vacuum, drive shaft, accelerator cables, motor mounts, etc. all hook up without having to get creative?

3.) Any gotchas which will cause major headache?

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry to see your truck give it up. And very glad to see your friend is A-OK. She looks a bit shaken, but alive.

And from a slightly different perspective, you did not make a cardinal mistake. You were helping another who was/is not as fortunate. I say, good for you and great for her. Don't hold any resentment. Accidents happen. Give her a hug and let her know you are glad she didn't get hurt.

I wouldn't even let my wife drive my truck in that kind of weather. What was so important that it couldn't wait till conditions improved??
