remove tailgate

Dear f150 fans!
I want to install a body lift kit and have to remove the tailgate
So i had taken the two strips off and than i put the gate 45 degrees to get of
the right side angle (wich is one side open)
But i cant remove it on the left side
is it just stuck together or is there a screw to get of
Please Help!!
Thanks

The right side pulls off at the 45 degree, then the tailgate needs to slide right. Dont pull the tailgate too far from the truck or you will damage the tailgate.

Yea, mine does the same thing, gets stuck once in awhile. It's just foreign matter/ rust in the cup side. That plastic cup like deal surprisingly hangs on to it from just pulling out sometimes.

Try to get as lined up with it as you can ,- after the slit end is out, then just push inward then pull hard.

give it a bump with a rubber mallet, to the right, while you are holding the tailgate from flying off

I highly suggest having a buddy help out. I did this for the first time and it popped off and the 45-lb tailgate flew into my tail light

I put a little bit axle grease in the cup. Not to the point of gushing out, just enough to keep things lubed. This prevents sticking, and the screeching noise when you dont open the tailgate too much.

this happened to mine but mine broke right off and we still could not remove the piece off the left side. So my tailgate now has a piece how pipe welded on that slides over the broken piece on the left. Doesnt ever get stuck now.

i broke mine. got it out the slide part then pulled taped lighty with a hammer. then pryed with a screw driver then taped a lil harder with a 3lbs sludge hammer. then finaly just got a huge pry bar on it and the plastic cup thing broke off the tailgate and is now stuck on the bed rail.

eh oh well my tailgate was rusting threw anyways.
