i know another guy on here with a 97 and his brakes sucked also...mine did also till i got the new rear axle with disk brakes...now it stops like a champ! if you have no pressure then you got a problem, but with my experience, all of these trucks seem to have the brake pedal to the floor problem. lol

I would love to swap my rear drum axle for a disk, did you go used? did you have to replace any other components? I have a 97, do you know which years are a simple drop in instalation?

Thanks

97-03 are all the same. you should be able to do a pretty simple swap. go by yer local junkyard you might be able to find one for roun $400ish. gotta make sure the differential size is the same (probaly a 8.8) your gonna have to run some brake lines for the calipers but they are good axles. stop real good

Brake pedal to the floor without a visible fluid leak and a full reservoir almost has to be a master cylinder with an internal leak.
