And the stock 4x4 block is cast iron, which is a PITA to weld...

Well its a shorter shackle than stock so idk... these trucks shackle mount is upside down so the shorter the shackle the more lift.

I honestly do not know if it would limit travel. I just know that on most trucks a longer shackle will give you lift, but its opposite on these trucks.

These pics might help.......(some search i did)
35x12.50x17 stock rims...........

Here is aftermarket 17x9 4.5backspacing...just torsion crank

Here is the trimming he did.....that would prob look tacky on a 97/98 since you would have to trim the chrome parts....but the reason you rub with 35's is cause of the rim. the only way you won't rub is if you buy wheels, but then you need lift or you have to trim this much off, you would have to get a 16x8 rim with 4.5bs and then you would need to trim about this much...........

I put 2" lift shackles on mine, Im not a fan of stacking blocks...
The factory blocks are made to be stacked.....it's when you start stacking alot of little blocks that it's bad
but you can stack another 2" on

Made to be stacked... I don't think so. I don't think ford thinks about aftermarket lifts when they design there truck.

Its just my personal opinion, I don't like it.

alright just saying, i don't like stock blocks either. Aftermarket blocks aren't made to be stacked but oem blocks can be stacked

im confused- Ive got a 97 4x4 f150 which sits level now, (i think the keys are already tweeked) and i'm ready for new tires and wheels

Without the body lift what size rim/tire should fit without rubbing?
im thinking eagle alloys and 34.5 BFGs, what combo of wheel/tire size should i go with?
Any recomendations would be appreciated..
thanks
Frank

To fit 35's on a stock 97-03 F150 with zero trimming, you MUST use your oem wheels but using the oem wheel will make you rub (no way around it) so you have to use aftermarket rims to eliminate the (minor) rub on the frame. But then you need lift to clear a wider rim or you have to trim a but ton and i think it will look tacky. If you wanna risk having to trim some of the chrome on your front bumper, your best bet would prolly be a 16x8 with atleast 4.5" of BS. (ive seen some with like 4.75bs i think)

damn...thats confusing...
