axle code

The axle code for my 2000 f150 4x4 extended cab is 27 from the little research ive done this corisponds to an f250 axle can anyone help my out im trying to figure out what gears i have

Axle code 27 — 3.31, non-limited slip

There is a list in the Articles and How To section along with everything else to decode the VIN.
F-150:
19 – 3.55 Non-LS
18 – 3.08 Non-LS
H9 – 3.55 LS
B6 – 3.73 LS

F-250:
27 – 3.31 Non-LS
26 – 3.73 Non-LS

Ranger:
84 – 3.45 Non-LS
86 – 3.73 Non-LS
87 – 4.10 Non-LS
89 – 4.56 Non-LS
F6 – 3.73 LS
F7 – 4.10 LS
92 – 3.08 Non-LS
R5 – 3.55 LS
91 – 3.27 Non-LS
96 – 3.73 Non-LS
R6 – 3.73 LS

thanks for the help guys but since mine is 27 does that mean i have f250 axles or whats the deal?

Have no idea, but do you have 7 lug wheels?

No, they use the same codes for both. Probably shouldn't be listed as 250 or 150. The 3.31 certainly would not be on a high GVW truck. On the 8200lb GVW, it would have a 4.10, which isn't listed. That does have the 7 lug.

No, Ford no longer uses a 9" rear. It is just the code for a 3.55 limited slip. It could be either an 8.8" or a 9.75" axles.
