truck hesitating.....any ideas?

Hey guys me again....97f150 4.64x4.
My truck has slowly been hesitating worse and worse...first it just did it when i wanted to speed up a little bit at like 50mph+ id hit the gas(not hard enough to down shift) and it would jerk a little bit while it sped up, now its doing that more often, and when i floored it today the exhuast sounded weird and it didnt have the same pep it use to....i dont really know how to describe the exhuast noise...kinda gurgly....so any ideas on what to look for and where to start? check engine light is on for the dpfe but ive replaced that and its still on, but it didnt do this when it was on before....any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 2001 5.4 was hesitating and suffered power loss (75,000 miles). It was discovered that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. That did the trick. There are a couple substantial threads on this forum covering the $800 spark plug job that you are in for if that is indeed the problem. Good luck and let us know what happens.

TonyM.

Yea I was going to suggest plugs and coils too...also check for carbon in the throttle body and maybe the fuel filter

Proceed with further troubleshooting for that code. The 4.6's are especially bad about the EGR passages in the throttle body plugging up. Please post the exact codes you currently have.

ok just got the codes checked and the egr and dpfe code popped up.....the dpfe is a lost cause in my point of view cause ive replaced it with 3 different ones, i think my truck has a vacuum leak somewhere too, and ive looked and looked and cant trace it cause theres so many lines, but my friends dad said that could be why the dpfe and egr codes are popping up cause the vacuum leak and those 2 things arent working properly since the leak, anyone have a good method to test the vacuum system without taking it to a garage and having someone do it? And Tonym4x4f150 a $800 spark plug job?!?!?!? WHY IN THE WORLD would it cost that much?!?!?And oh yea just replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the TB not even 2000miles ago also sea foamed it

Would you please post the exact numeric codes? Without fixing the causes of those codes, any other troubleshooting and parts replacement is useless.

A spark plug job is only going to cost $800 on 04+ 5.4 3v engines if several plugs seize and break, or to repair stripped holes from plug blowouts on 2v engines before 2004. YOUR truck should be about a $250 job parts and labor.
