painting taillight trim?

I recently bought aftermarket taillights and found they have a silver outline that I didn't see in the online pictures..is there a way to cover this and make it black? Maybe pinstripe, or painting?

i used this black sticker type tape, actually made for boats. when i had a crown vic, i used it to cover the chrome trim around the windows. maybe something like that would work. if you were close, i'd say meet up & ill give you some of the tape. here are some pics of what i mean.
before

after

i think trying to paint it could get messy.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, using a decal-type tape that won't come off with weather/washings. Where do you get that boat tape, can I get something like that at an auto parts store? I would post a picture on here if I knew how, I recently learned how to post a picture in my signature lol..I'll have to take a better picture, the one in my signature is way too small because I took that one with my camera phone.

bake 'em in the oven, pull them apart, and seal them with some black RTV silicone from Autozone.

I was thinking about doing that with my headlights..I bought them brand-new from e-bay and they get moisture in them..I tried sealing them from the outside, but it didn't really do any good. What is a safe temperature I can do that with? How much time do I have after I take them out of the oven to pull them apart? Will I need to do it right away and use oven mits?

I'm pretty sure there is a write-up on the site on how to bake them. I wanna say it less than 350*, for like 10 min or something. let me look

I've been reading some horror stories about people having a hard time pulling these lights apart. I tried using liquid nails sealant and it didn't work, but I applied it without pulling the lights apart first. I was wondering if it didn't work because of the flexibility of this sealant..I think while putting the lights back in, the sealant may have rubbed off in some places. Does that black rtv sealant dry hard, or is that also flexible?

So it's basically the same then, because the stuff I used is silicone also. Is it just not possible to seal then without taking apart first?

Ok I tried sealing it up with the same silicone again, but this time I found a video online saying to run your finger over the silicone to make a better seal, so that's what I did. I also found a cap on the back that was pretty loose, so I loaded it up with silicone. I have a pretty good feeling this time that it won't leak anymore. There's no condensation in the other light at the moment, so I'll leave it alone for now..I figure I'll wait to see if it works with the one that has condensation before bothering with the other one.

As you can see, it has a dreadful silver border that I couldn't see in the e-bay pictures. Is there a tape that I can use, preferably black, to cover this? I would like a black border much better.

yeah that boat pinstriping tape would work great. plus it's made to be in the water, so it wont come off when it rains. they have them in different thicknesses. i purchased them from a West Marine store here in MD, not sure if they have them where you are, but check with any marine/boat store.
