wind noise?
wind noise?
Anybody had trouble with hearing wind noise going down the interstate are at speeds over say about 60. My truck has wind noise and i hear it at my drivers door towards the top. any ideas? Thanks
Yes! One question though, is yours a scab? Reason I ask is, when I first got my truck (back in 02') I thought the wind noise was pretty bad and coming from the same place you're describing. Long story short: Turns out I was being too nice to my rear cab doors. I wasn't closing them securely enough and that's what was causing the wind noise. I could rock the rear doors a bit and feel that they were not closed tightly. Now I make sure I slam em' shut and I don't have any problems. There could be a bunch of other causes for wind noise, but that is what caused mine.
Hello BlueOval. I have a 2000 extended cab Lariat. When it was BRAND NEW it had severe wind noise above the driver door. I have tried putting additional weather stripping above the door with no positive result at all. I "should" have taken it in when it was under warranty, but before I knew it, it was too late. My mistake. I'm thinking of trying to readjust the hinge bolts maybe. Any ideas anyone??? This wind noise is BADDD.
Hey wade3rd, sorry it took me so long to get back with you on this. I was able to fix mine by adjusting my drivers door. You just loosen the door hinge bolts on the door itself top and bottom and their is a little room for adjustment. I was able to to adjust my door tight to the cab at the top of the door where my wind noise seemed to come in at. It doesn't take to long to do. I haven't had any probs since. Hope this helps good luck!
Ive owned my 99 since new, so this was done a long while back. But anyway had the same problem, and i took it in. This is how they fixed it no joke. The service man came out, opened my door, sat in the seat put his knee half way up the door behing the interior door handle, grabbed the rear top corner of my door and and started pulling inward. Essentially bending the top corner in. Not drastically mind you but enough to get it to seal. Sounds stupid and a little backyardish, but believe it or not it worked. He just kept rocking the corner till it sealed. If you try this, make sure you dont pull too hard and bend the door frame.
