have pic, need to find
Now, I'm not trying to pick a fight...
jbrew, if YOU feel a gasoline engine shouldn't have a block heater.. call and write Ford, save them some cash. If somebody wants to install one on THEIR vehicle, why bash their idea and continuously keep putting it down?
Several manufactures seem to have had a block heater as an option on their gasoline vehicles.. so that leads me to believe that they cannot be THAT bad.

All the information in the world is useless when held in the hands of arrogance.

Your a smart one
If i may add my .02 block heaters are there for a reason. They are there for the people that go through harsh canadian winters and need there vehicles to start during -40 and colder temperatures like me. My truck doesn't start when it is below -35 so therefore i plug my truck in every night during the winter even if it isn't that cold. It is better for the truck that way and it warms up about 5-10 min faster that way and when you are sitting in a freezing cold truck waiting for the engine to warm up and the heat to kick in 5-10 min makes a big difference.

illness95, scootr2200 is right about one thing, if you want to run one go ahead and I hope someone has an answer, directly. I posted my opinion and drew from what I've seen and read in the past in relation to those units. If it was colder here, I would use one, that's how I weigh it, so to speak, - problems vs necessity. Not all weigh it the same.
Good Luck

Yep, It would be worth having then, definitely. I would have one. Shoot I'd even pop another freeze plug and run two in those conditions,- also grease w/Amsoil.

I stated my findings thru experience in the field, which indeed does help fellow members. If you want to fall for the hype out there, that's souley your own prerogative. I'm not trying to make a sale, I'm here to see that fellow members of this site do not make mistakes that have happened in the past.

I don't really understand how a block heater could add moisture to your motor oil even if it does it will get burned off during longer highway trips or if the individual makes shorter trips just change your oil more often. It is also just as likely to leak as a frost plug when installed from the factory. Also the most wear put on an engine is from cold starts and it gets worse as the temperature drops. A couple weeks ago it was -36 without the wind and -55 with the wind, just imagine the wear that puts on an engine.
I wasn't the instigator/ I gave my opinion and also supported part of what the instigator said in the second place. You can stop crying anytime Gotts, you whine like a little girl.
