Losing oil pressure
Losing oil pressure
2002 F150 with 4.6ltr., when I first start it up the oil pressure is fine but there is a lot of racket that sounds like it is coming somewhere from the upper part of the internal engine. After about 5 minutes the oil pressure drops to zero. I have been told that there is diaphragms that oil the timing chain and they could be what is leading to the noise and oil pressure problem. Has anyone else experienced this or no what I need to do, should I drop the oil pan and inspect the bearings or oil pump? Could use some advice..
This needs to be posted either in the v8 engines or the 97-2003 sections. Unfortunately I am not familiar with your issue, but maybe someone in one of those areas would be. You can also try using the search feature. Good luck!
I'll move it now, into the 97-2003 area. It's kind of a tossup where it should go, but that seems right.

start with the simple stuff first, oil filters can collapse internally and cause this. What brand filter are you running? Either way i would change it and retest before going into the engine.
