stereo wiring?

Hey guys I got my truck about a month ago! I'm happy with everything but my stereo... I took out the old one and somebody has been in there cutting and twisting wires. Is there a link or could one of you fellas tell me the color code for wiring up my new cd player. note I have a basic radio w/ tape deck from factory in it but it won't turn off... it can't go back!

if you buy the wiring adaptor for a cd player installation, it should have the same colors as the ones in your truck. usually all but one or two match up. one of them is orange. most of the time orange is not used. it is an illumination wire but most players illuminate using the power wire. i think the other one you wont use is brown but not positive. havent changed players in awhile, but want to in my 08. only has stock radio. yeah, no tape, no cd. i bought one of those MP3 players that broadcasts thru the radio. it plugs into the lighter or 12V port. so far it works, been in for a few months. just saving up for a cd player and trying to make my laziness go away to get off my butt and install it along with my amp and sub. i have 2 cd players, 1 was in an accident, dont know if it works because i forgot the wiring kit in the car when i took it out. the other was in my last truck and was randomly ejecting the cd and was having problems with the motorized face. im going simpler this time. just want a USB port so i can plug a flash drive in it to play MP3s. going thru the radio causes some static at times and almost always on the bass if it is turned up a bit.

I think your missing what hes saying...the PO cut out the stock plug and "hardwired" their deck into the stock wiring instead of using a harness.

ah ok, i see whats going on. i had that problem too in my 89 firebird i had except the guy messed it up so the original power wire didnt have voltage. had to go to a car audio place and he ran a new power wire from my fuse box. take it to a car audio place. the guy did mine for $10. but he was a friend of my uncle. but your gonna have to do that route most likely.

Im sure a google search would find you something, or you could just use a DMM to verify voltage and a triple A battery to test speakers. Or you could take it to a shop.
