Ok i got my axle code and to my dismay its a 19........19= 3.55 Non-LS
So I am going to have to fix that for two reasons.....1) I have some snow days here when a limited slip really help out. 2) non lsd SUX!!!!
Just when I think I am done with big money improvements.....this happens!!

Ive even seen the 4.88's installed
Ok so heres the scenario, I live in a small town, and we have a lot of big trucks here (none of which are a member on this forum) anyway, everybody takes there suspension, drivetrain stuff to a guy named Jack. This guy looks like a civil war soldier stuck in modern times, but he said $300, would have it one night, has all the parts there....so I am thinking next week i am getting my self a new ****!!

and im geussing you arent replacing the gears?
ive even seen 5.13s in a little 28spline ranger 8.8 i knew something there didnt sound right...
I must've heard wrong, or wasn't paying attention, an thought that was said. He's the one that did my gears. He's got all the gadgets for measurements, dials, an what not. I just know what they do, an how they work. It's obvious I know nothing about what fits what!
My bad!

Your right, something didn't sound right. AN 4.2 is right! It was ME that didn't sound right. When I got my Auburn carrier, along with the 4.56 gears. I thought I heard my buddy say something about that's the biggest you can go in the 8.8 rears. I said something to him tonight. AN he looked at me like I had 2 heads, an was like "Whaaaaaaa?".

i an off road gear magazine i got from one of the off road runs i went on dont remember who made them
I mean is there any reason for me to switch them.....I rarely tow anything the tires are only 35's I mean if there is a legitimate reason to change them, then let me know, and I will see what that will run me.
He is going to make mine a limited slip, he said he would also check and make sure all of its in good shape......and no I am not switching the gears.

So what gear ratio should I go with if I did switch...I have 3.55's now?
you can do 4.10's but IMO its not worth the money to justify that.
but remeber if the truck is 4x4 both front and rear diffs must be changed. You can do just the rear but then 4x4 is not functional.
what i mean is. If the truck is 4x4 both sets of gears need to be changed to match if you want to use 4x4 feature
