Gauge Cluster Interchangability?

I bought a 1997 XLT from a friend, knowing it needed a new engine. I decided I'd like to eventually swap in as many 2000 Harley Edition interior parts as I can. I think it'd make a for an awesome look.

Anyways, I got a hold of a gauge cluster out of a 2000 Harley Edition, and I'm told I won't be able to make it work. I jumped on this cluster, because I knew I'd have a helluva time find one of these later. Am I screwed on this note? Is there any possible way at all I can get this cluster to work in my '97?

Thanks for the help.

Nope..the 97 cluster has the old analog odometers and the 99+ are all digital. I read on some forum a guy was trying to rewire the 99+ cluster to go in the 97 but gave up. About the only way to make it work would be to get a PCM and harness from a 99+ truck. There's prolly some other stuff you'd need to swap to but I just can't remember them all.

Oh well. I had specifically set out to get stuff from that year Harley truck because they didn't say "Supercharged" on the instrument cluster, and I don't have any immediate future plans to supercharge my truck. Yeah, maybe I will be able to use it as a partial trade plus cash for an engine. Thanks for the help, guys.
