Locating Oil Sending Unit on 98 F150 4.6L

hey guys.... I have a 1998 Ford F150 Ext. Cab 4x4 w/ 4.6L V8 Engine. Also, my Oil Filter is locate on driver side in front of wheel up in bumper area.

I was driving my truck a few days ago..... when I noticed my oil pressure gauge bottomed out and stayed there... along with my oil light coming on and staying on. I drove about a 1 1/2 miles to the nearest store (cause the engine never missed a beat. it sounded normal & runs great)... checked the oil and it was low....... I added 2 qts..... oil level good now...... Started it up and went on home...... another mile.

Next day, after truck had been sitting all night.... I checked the oil again..... oil level is good. I started the truck up....... let it run for a while (while reving the engine some but not real bad........ just to see if it seemed to be running normal) and all seemed fine. Oil light went off and gauge was working again.

So I decided to drive it to a friends house.... but only made it a couple hundred feet when the Gauge bounced a couple times... then bottomed out again & the oil light came back on. I immediatly turned around and came home....... letting it run for about 10 minutes in my driveway. All seemed fine.

Anyways several people have told me its probably my Oil Sending Unit. So I went to NAPA and bought one. Now my problem is, I cannot find this thing anywhere on this truck....... I even have AllData program. but the pictures are not that clear and it says on the left side near oil filter. (I am assuming left side is gonna be driver side.... even though I have looked on both sides) Also my oil filter is in front bumper area on driver side. I have looked every where around the block and even around the oil filter.... just not having any luck.

Could someone please give me your take on my problem.... maybe some better pics or something showing where exactly the Oil Sending Unit is located on my truck???

Sorry for such a long post.... but I feel I can get better help if I explain in details what has happened..... Thanks

Follow the hoses back from the oil filter to the remote adapter - it will be right around there.
