I would imagine that the Explorer is more similar to the F150 being that both are RWD vs the FWD windstar

What about tightening the actual shifter itself?

I've noticed that my shifter seems loose. The indicator is fine and in the right position, but after i put it in drive, the shifter will wobble around loosely. Drives me nuts. Never used to do that. My brother's and my dad's are both tight and stay in place, and my brother's truck is older than mine...

I can not get my pointer to move either way still. It seems as if my adjuster is just rotating around the threaded piece there, not having any way of adjusting a thing!.

try holding the threaded part, and then spinning the adjuster, sounds like they are kinda frozen together. Its not a fast adjustment tho, it takes more then you'd think to move the needle a little bit

Yea. i went all way one way then all the way the other. How exactly does it work? My little plastic mount piece is broken, but that doesnt look like it would affect anything, just hold the cable away from anything and in place. I just cant see how spinning the spinner along the threaded piece moves the cable at all. Unless mine is messed up like you said. Cant be frozen together though because the spinner is moving freely up and down the threaded portion...

the bracket is what the adjuster pulls against, so if the bracket is broken it has no point to pull from

yup got these back up and running, i had hosted them here, and changed the technical article pictures, but never changed them here.

Link to the technical article https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...inter-fix.html

There are several good posts in there about others that have had broken brackets and how they fixed them.

Awesome. I'll try and adjust mine as soon as I get it back from the shop. Not sure if there's enough adjustment left in it as it points to R when in P... gave me a bit of a scare when I first picked up the truck and tried to take off in N (it pointed to D).

You're right, the bracket is broken. I got my fiancee to watch the needle as I jiggled the cable around so I have it adjusted to where it needs to be, I just need to get it to stay there. Time to start looking for a fix!
