Brake work Question?

Brake work Question?

Ok guys im in need of some new brakes, and should i turn my rotors, they have been changed once and i did not turn them, ive heard that they can get to thin, but ive seen guys to it alot, so what should i do?

yes they CAN get to thin, what you need to do is look the minimum thickness of the rotor, i think it says on the back of the rotor its engraved near the holes for the lugnuts, then grab your micrometer and get to figurin! what i do is if it gets to close to the min, thickness i replace them. if shes still got life left in her then turn!

As long as they are within spec, that will determine if they need to be turned, how much and if they will remain in spec.

they have never been turned it only has 72k on the truck

the milage doesnt matter really, the heavier load, trailers and what not, and how hard you brake makes a difference.

Take the rotors to the machine shop and let them inspect them. They will tell you if they can legally be turned or not.
