Did your old starter check out bad? If so recheck all your connections. Make sure the connectors are clean.

I've replaced many a good Ford Starter.. They rarely fail. Always start with the easy cheap stuff first. Connections... Relay. Try shorting the big post to the small post on the firewall relay. If the starter engages replace the relay and your good. While you at it check and clean all connections..

Ok, I tried Shorting the post on the firewall relay and all I got is the click sounds. I also noticed that when I turn the key to the on position all the gages peg to the right then go back to the other side and if I try to start I just get the clicking noise... Wondering if the new battery is bad? or could a bad relay also cause that?

yah if the gauges peg out like that the battery is dead. Or the battery terminals are so corroded the truck can't get enough power out of the battery

I solved the issue.... It was the battery cables. I had a bad connection....

Well I am only $200 in the hole for the starter. Wish I would have checked the cables before jumping to the conclusion that it had to be the starter. Oh well, it works now so I am happy..THANKS to everyone for the help. It pointed me into the right direction and I learned something new....
