1997 fuel filter quick disconnect fitting not disengaging

I have the fuel line disconnect tools and I AM using the correct diameter tool. Tool inserts into fuel filter line "quick disconnect", but FAILS to disengage the teeth. I have the rear disconnect off, but the forward disconnect isn't disengaging. Anyone have any tips?

I"m about ready to burn this thing to the ground! Been screwing with this for over two hours on one darn fitting.

Just keep trying. It took me 45 minutes of screwing with it to get mine off. The rear was easy for me, but the front is always the problem. I used a rubber mallet to convince mine as well

Disregard - got it

I took another shot at the disconnect and got it off. Had to continually jostle it forward and aft while engaging the disconnect tool. After a brief episode of going flipping berserk....it came off

Use only a Motorcraft fuel filter or you may have the same problem next time.
