engine dies, short?

so, I've just discovered I have the famous leak, probably rear glass? (water collecting very back of the cab) - (that said haven't had chance to rule out windshield glass); just found the water this weekend. I had also just noticed a slow voltage drain (battery light on after truck sitting for a day or two). Today it rained, the truck started, but approx 5 mins later dash lights went on / off, all gauges zero'd out, engine started hesitating, and then it died. Wouldn't start, and the battery was clearly weak, but not stone dead. Any thoughts? - likely connected to the water leak?

Sounds like a dead alternator on the electrical part of the problem.

If the battery is weak, there's not enough juice for the ECM, which kills the engine

Thumbs up yep - alternator

shop told me today that it is the alternator; and that I also needed:

serp belt, belt tensioner, and brakes - looking like 2k of deferred maintenance!

good thing I like the truck.

Thanks for your replies.
