Anyone have tips or a how to in daystar level kit?
My Daystar 1.5 inch spacer just came in. I probably wont get around to installing it until tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone had a quick how to, or any tips on how to make the install smoother. Im not too sure how it goes, since it looks nothing like the other leveling kit ive done, but once Im in there ill figure it out.. Thanks
the instructions in those kits suck i had them and its a general deal. ill write something up before the night is over my friend i have pics of most parts but not during the process.
First off your going to need to jack the front end up and put the truck on jack stands. once its up in the air you need to take the wheels off and set them aside.
next you take off the brake caliper which bolts on with two bolts in the back. once you take the caliper off unscrew the brake line bracket so you can set the caliper on the ground.
then look under the Lower control arm and you will need to remove the sway bar endlink bolt pictured and lower shock mounts (pics below)

then you remove the upper shock bolt and remove the shock. i strongly recommend getting a 21 mm deep socket and wrench (the socket will help alot on other things for the truck as well such as the bumpers) pics below
after you drop the shock out you need to carefully jack the LCA up to put weight back on the spring and compress it. remove the cotter pin and uca ball joint nut pictured below.

then you can carefully lower the jack and release the spring. (the ball joint may not pop out and you may have to get a ball joint fork from autozone for 10 bucks and hammer it out)
one the suspension is released remove the spring and stock spacer and replace it with the new one and put every thing back together.
once your done go get it aligned and some new tires and show off your new ride.
any questions feel free to ask

Nice writeup thanks. It seems pretty similar to the chevy, I just didn't know we had a stock spacer. Also i'd like to post some pics. Is there an easy way or do I gotta upload them to photobucket then embed?
photobucket or on a gallery here

My mod bug bite went away and I kinda lost interest in this forum but now I'm back and working on getting my truck saftied by the end of November so I can have it on the road in time for me to get my full license. I gotta do wheel nuts to accomadate my new rims, wipers and a few sections of brake lines. Im going to put some 32's on her probably by xmas, my dad will be pissed but I don't care. I got the sub, rims, painted grille, leveling kit and now tires and the truck will be "mine"
