stumped

ok so about 3-4 weeks ago i noticed a bit of a clicking noise from my left front wheel when going slow "probably there at high speed just can't hear it."
I just got off a dirt road so i blew it off to a rock or something.

then I continued to hear it later, looked in all tire treads, all over the wheels, and everywhere i could think of and nothing out of the ordinary.
Took it to Firestone they didn't even charge me since they could find nothing wrong with it even after putting it on the lift and checking all over.

anyone else ever heard of this?

If a 4wd, I would start checking the CV joints.

Sure it is coming from the front? Clicking is often U-joints.

I'll get out there today and look at the u bolts but i am pretty sure it is coming from the wheel. although hard to tell because i only get to hear it while i am in the cab.

is it a consistant click like with each rotation with the tire you hear click or is it bursts of random clicks, I would lean towards your forward Ujoint, does it do it in turns acceling or coasting, need more info.

Pretty consistent, "i live in the city so hard to always hear it" does it coasting, gets fast while accelerating "the fast i go the faster it clicks" ans seems to be a little worse "as in more clicks" while turning right.

Edit: I did more research and i think you guys might be right about the u joint. there is mild vibration but only when breaking in the 20-40 mph area. i have no noises when putting it in gear like some have had, also no loss of power. i was thinking the vibration could be a hot spot in a rotor and was about to change them out.

Question

ok just ran to Firestone and they said it would not be the u joint making the noise from only the drivers front wheel being a 2wd.?
could it still be the u joint even tho you don't head the noise on the passenger side?
They told me to just run it, and see if anything changes."not my style i like my stuff to work properly"

Sorry to be so much trouble, just hate when i can't figure it out.

What kind of wheels do you have? I used to have a set of wheels that the caps would make a clicking sound. They were screwed down tight, but would make a clicking sound. If I loosened the screws a little it stopped.

i have had these wheels since i have had the truck and never heard this noise. I did check it already but to make sure is was tight enough and the lugs were tight, and to make sure no debris was in there.
Did yours always do it or just start one day, i might just take off the center cap and test drive.

pic of unimpressive wheels

I had a set of Centerline wheels, but the cap was held on in the same fashion. That was how I figured it out, I drove to work with the center caps removed. I had no more clicking. It started making the noise after I put the wheels on, but it took me a little while to figure out it was the caps.
