1997 F-150 rear brake conversion

I have a 1997 F_150 and have access to rear disc brakes off of 1999 F-150. Can I use rear disc brakes on my F-150?

It should be a simple swap for the two, but I have heard some people had to run excess lines or something with the brake booster. Just make sure they are the same (or better) gears

for sure check the axle ratio and if it's better than try for the axle swap

you're gonna probably need all the brackets and lines anway, but I"m sure what will interchange between the drum and disk axles

i thought the gears had to be the same as in the front? if not they will bind when turning? thats what i was told when i did the drum to disc axle swap on my old wrangler.

you have to have the same gears other wise the transfer case wont be happy about life your rear shaft will spin lets say 4.10 times for 1 spin of the tire Vs your front spinning 3.55 times for 1 spin of the tire. your T-case wont like life.

as for the bind that happens when you weld the front diff its very hard to turn because both tires spin at the same speed. my buddy welded both front and rear diffs it was funny hearing his truck go around coners cheerpin the tires.

i was looking at this swap as well to get a better gear ratio i have 2wd thoe.

yes, you need the front and rears to be the same gear ratio, I just assumed taht OP had a 2 wheel drive but he didn't leave us much to go on
