brake problems
I own a 1997 ford f150 4x4 with the 4.6l and its an automatic. when i bought it it really needed front brakes. when i took off the front driver side caliper off i noticed that the outside shoe had worn alot more than the inside shoe. when i took off the passenger side front the pads where both wearing evenly. i replaced the rotors and brake pads and bought a new caliper for the driverside thinking that it would solve the problem of the uneven wear. well one year later, i was replacing my lower baljoints and upon removal of my caliper and rotor i noticed that the driverside outside pad is almost gone but the inside pad is almost like new. and the passenger side pads where wearing evenly. What could be causing the outside pad to be wearing more than the inside one for the driverside?
That could be the possible problem. but that would mean that the bracket that holds the caliper would have to be bent. are the brackets that hold the caliper different from the passenger side to the driver side. maybe someone put a replacement bracket on and didnt no the difference. also, the caliper pins are new so they couldnt be the problem
well over the course of the 11 years we've owned mine the brakes have locked up on us three times. and the right side brake is more worn than the left. i think Ford calipers in gereal suck
They still are not fixed. I have replaced every part at least once. I'm force to check mine every 100 miles or so. Ford quality is a joke when it come to brakes in my 1998 ford f150 4x4 auto 5.4l.
