4.2 rough cold start

I have a 97 f150 v6 4.2 with 91,000 miles and i have recently replaced head gaskets, lower intake gaskets, and front timing cover gasket. even before doing all of this, after the truck sits at night and the first start of the day the truck will hesitate and die on the first start. second start it fires up with no problems and runs great. possibly fuel filter? any ideas? thanks.

Does it still have the original plugs, wires, and coil pack? You may need to clean or replace the IAC. You may have fuel injectors that are bleeding down. A fuel filter is always worth a try.
