97-03 F150 Bilstein HDs or Monroe Reflex
I need new shocks. I also tow a camper, let's just say 6,000 lbs with a 650 lbs tongue weight. I've been getting pretty good bounce. After 70,000 miles and taking a look, it's time for some new shocks.
My truck had the heavy duty tow package that included the transmission cooler, heavy duty springs, and heavy duty shock absorbers.
I think i've narrowed down to Bilstein HDs or Monroe Reflex.
What are your thoughts on the two? Which of the two should I go with and why?
The problem i'm finding is anyone carries or can get the monroe's, but no one carries the Bilsteins. As much as I'd like to work on my truck, I'm not that mechanically inclined. If I order the Bilsteins will most garages install with me bringing in my own parts?

Thanks, that's what I was thinking: Bilstein HDs, but what about my original question shown here:

I ordered my last 2 sets off of Ebay, getting ready to order a set for my Jeep. You just need the OEM replacement, not the 5100 adjustables (unless you have a suspension lift...Body Lift is OEM replacement also.)
I tow a full sive pop up but I haul a quad and occassionally the heavy load every now and then.
3000lbs even.
They are a great shock. The fronts are a pain to install but I will always run them. You get what you pay for. I thought a stock set was around $250 or $260 delivered on Ebay. That was a couple of years ago though.
They come with everything you need (bushings, hardware). Any shop doing the install would have the tools they need.

The Bilsteins are worth the money. Ive run them for tens of thousands of miles over the "pavement" of NYC. Originally on the stiff side, theyve softened up considerably, but still provide a lot of control along with a comfortable ride.
Install is easy, as long as you dont let the rears extend prior to getting them into position. Then youll have to get creative. Having a garage install them will probably cost you in the neighborhood of $100-$120.
