Possible Buy

Well Im looking at picking up THIS bad boy this week/weekend. Its only an XL, I would have liked an XLT, but the price is right for the miles and it will get me out of the 2wd ranger I have now. I have one question. Since it is the 7700, its my understanding from reading around that the frame is possibly a 250 frame or is it just a beefed up 150 frame? I am hoping to find a light bar to put on the front with some driving lights or something on it. Not to mention some other super secret mods. Im not looking to lift it, but I will put some bigger shoes underneath it to fill up the wheel wells. Im not digging the pleather either, so maybe some seat covers as well. From the pictures it seems like it has no tow hooks in the front, which I think will come in handy, so Im thinking of putting some 04-08s on it maybe 09s from ebay. And it definitely has no receiver hitch, which is a must for me. Thats why I need to know what frame it has to put on either a 150 or 250 receiver hitch.

Maybe its to good to be true, but I think $10k for a 23k mile truck is pretty damn good. We will see when I go to look at it. Its a little over an hour away, so im hoping it will be a winner. Wish me luck!

Do you have the link to the listing. and is it a super cab or regular cab? That would have a lot to do with weather its a good deal or not, but it sounds pretty goot. when I bought my truck it didn't have a reciver hitch on the truck either but i got one for a few hundred bucks and put it on my self in like 20-30 mins. Im not sure about the tow hooks from the newer trucks working on these but I know that the ones for this truck are pretty beefy.

Why do you think the price is high? I dont think the price is that bad. I can probably get them to lower it some also because I am giving them cash in full. I did some more research and Im guessing the frame is just heavier gauge steel. The only problem this would have made is finding a receiver hitch. Which I think I found already.

I paid 11k for my 02 a year and a half ago it was a ext cab xlt with 13,000 miles but it was a 2wd V6 with a stick. I'd say around 8500 would be a good deal on it

The miles are tempting. Definatly get a carfax to confirm the mileage. It looks good but it is still a 7+ year old truck. I am not sold on the price though. Look for dry rot on anything rubber too as sitting is hard on a truck. Only 3k a year is a little light.

Dealer trade in on my 2003 Supercrew 4x4 55k miles that probably had $14k higher MSRP is only $11k. That is a rare truck, so if you really want the extra payload then it might be worth the premium for you. Edmunds says it's worth about $6500 trade in and $8k private party.

Im not really in it for the extra payload. Its just that I CANNOT find any regular cab, long bed, 4wd 150s around here at all. New and used, they are pretty scarce. This is the only one I found within 150 miles of here. I was seriously considering buying an '09/'10 only because I could not find a used reg cab, long bed 150. I decided that $30k is out of my price range and kept looking for used trucks around here. Then i stumbled upon this baby.

I checked the carfax and it only ever gained 2000 to 4500 miles a year. It also said that it has and always had a clean bill of health. I would expect that with a truck under 30k miles. Im still hoping to get down there this weekend and look at it.

Nice - it even has a 4R100 tranny!

However, private party book on it is only $6100.
