I gotta keep her running

I have a '97, its 4x4, its got the 5.4L, a really nice replaced tranny with 25,000 miles on it, the rest of the truck has 168,000 miles, and its automatic. I have owned it since April 2007 and have had no problems whatsoever and really love it. I plan on keeping it for as long as I possibly can, and if there's anyone who has a similar model to mine, what should I look out for to keep it running properly? Obviously, I know about belts, hoses, all the fluids, brakes, tires, and the no brainer stuff, but is there anything special?
Also, if my engine was to blow, I would love to rebuild it with my brother and Dad, but how realistic is that? Has anyone on this site done it before? Thanks!

the motoras are easy to rebuild, just use quality parts and make sure you time the cams correctly

you need to start with the "gotts intake" mod, keep your o2 sensors, plugs, oil and tranny fluids changed along with cleaning of your MAf and IAC
