Overhead Console

On my overhead console the compass/temp thing went out, so I was wondering if there is a battery that needs to be replaced or do I need to replace the whole thing? if the whole thing needs to be replaced could I put an expedition console in it's place? do i just have to remove the over console and the dome light and it'll bolt right up? or would i need to make additional holes? any help would be appreciated

you would need to replace just the display, but its usually cheaper and easier to find the whole console on ebay.

as for the expy overhead console you are on the right track, however there is differences worth noting. the expy console does not have the temp readout, just a plastic filler panel that says expedition. Secondly the expy console will have a set of rear AC controls at the front before the first pocket. Thirdly you will need to cut some of the headliner to allow for the longer bracket. you will also need to run wires for the map lights if you want those to be functioning.

if i think of anything else ill let you know. And ofcourse if you have any questions let me know

the expy consoles are much harder to find anyways, and usually twice the price

Mine did the same thing. I took it apart and two or three of the ?(resistors)? were loose. All I did was re-solder them and know it works fine.

expy, just send me a pic of what your display looks like. i've seen a few in the local JY for a few bucks and might be able to send you one for a helluva lot cheaper than what eBay is offering.

i pulled one out last year and ended up selling it to someone on here because his display was having the same problem.
