Weight Difference
Weight Difference
My truck is an '01, reg cab, long bed, 2wd with the 4.6. I've been wondering if there would be much of a difference in quickness if it were a short bed
Thanks!
Thanks!
The old wives tale is 100 lbs adds 1/10th to the quarter mile time.
The short bed weighs about 100 lbs less so, in theory it would be 1/10th quicker.
Not enough to keep you awake nights.

Cabs are identical.
From the rear axle back is identical.
Visualize cutting out 18 inch section of the bed before the wheelwells straight across.
What have you got?
Two 18" pieces of frame, 18" of drive shaft, some brake line, foot and a half of bed floor and walls, five gallon portion of a plastic gas tank and some exhaust pipe.
The spec sheet actually listed at less than 100, I rounded up a bit.
