I just bought my 02 a week ago, and since it's not a 8 foot bed, I wanted to get a bed extender. A guy a mile away had a stock one in his supercrew he was willing to sell for $50 so I was excited, only to find out that the mounting & lock bosses aren't installed in my 6.5" bed. I know I've seen them on the stepside, but did ford not put these in regular bed, I'd think even if I had 8 footer, I might want one.

I guess I'm stuck with using and aftermarket one, and I doubt I'm going to hit that $50 mark.

Anyone have any recommendations on one that's relatively theft proof and inexpensive? (They just stole catalytic converters at the park and ride lot I use two weeks ago).



(I did try the search, but it seems to not be working today).

 

I've had a Westin bed extender in my 02' 6.5ft style side bed for years now. It was more than $50 but it has held up well and has been very useful. If you have a locking tailgate it will make it more difficult for a thief to remove it when the tailgate is closed but it can still be stolen.
