Very reliable except for the spark plug ejection problem - which can be eliminated with a set of Motorcraft SP-series plugs torqued to 28-32 ft/lb and *NO* antiseize. It won't be a particularly powerful truck - compared to a 5.4 it has no low end torque.

what's making you go to the 4.6? Or is the the screw cab you're wanting? Either way, the motor should be very reliable...just not quite as powerful, but there are alot of upgrades available for both motors. I have the 4.6 and have no problem with lack of power (tho i might if i was used to driving a 5.4 lol).

It should be just fine for a daily driver. Just don't try to tow much over 4000# with it if you don't have to. It will tow more, but it's gonna be doggy. My V-6 does the job just fine as a daily driver, but towing is leisurely at best. Use your 5.4 when you have to tow or go fast.

The 4.6 is just as reliable as the 5.4, so go for it if it's a good deal.
