I have a 1997 f150 that the analog odometer, and trip stopped working. The speedometer and everything else works fine. After seeing a new cluster cost $350, I decided to take it apart. I found out that a rubber worm gear that spins off of the odometer/trip electric motor had broke from dry rot. I went to a junk yard and pulled just the odometer part off of a 98 f150. I plan to swap the odometers.

The problem is that it has the new part has 270,000 miles, but my truck has 170,000 miles. I would like to roll the numbers back on the new one, but it wont allow me to spin them backward, but it will allow me to go forward.

What I want to do is, roll the new odometer foreward all the way around from 270k to 170k. Will the odometer allow me to roll past a million miles, or will it get stuck on 999,999?
