need pics of 97-03 with a double din head unit.

I have heard that a 97-03 doesn't have a true double din opening on the dash. I want to replace my factory radio but don't know how it will look on my 03' King Ranch. I have the wood trim around the radio and AC. Any pics will help.

It is not a true double DIN - it's more like a DIN and a half. I was talking to the guys over at the local car stereo joint about doing mine - they recommended a single DIN and their install kit, which gives you a small tray under the unit.

I think I read somewhere that this kit is fairly new on the market and should work like a charm...anyone used this kit?

Double DIN's can be done... All you have to do is trim the top of the black plastic behind the radio bezel for it to fit... Also, you have to trim and modify a trim ring if you want it to look perfect (or you will have a gap around the sides)

Here is my Kenwood DDX8120

uses the empty space in front of the regular center console. wasnt hard install since all i had to do was pull out the old console & install the expy console. if you dont have buckets its a little more involved, but i am going to do that with my lightning.
