well, the old ones have to be pressed out, and new ones greased and pressed back in. if this isn't something you want to tackle yourself, pull the driveshaft off, and take it to a driveline shop to perform the work for you. then reinstall driveshaft yourself. this method will probably save you $60 or so.

its only four bolts that have to come off, and the driveshaft slides right out of the transfer case extension housing...

If you find a reliable shop to press out and press in your joints, be sure to have your driveshaft balanced at the same time - this can prevent any vibration problems in the future.

Thanks & Have a Great Day,

I haven't changed a U joint in probably 30 years, but I recall doing it w/ a large vise and some sockets. I remember it being a pretty straightforward procedure (but then again, almost everything was on cars 30 yrs ago!)

thanks guys.....not sure if i want to do this myself or not. Ive heard that if they are the orginals then they are big PIA to get out....so I may just drop the drive shaft and take it somewhere....

also not to change the subject, but my transmisison doesnt want to shift into overdrive.....once i get to 40-50+ the rpms just get higher and higher until i manually click the OD button to off then back on, then it shifts.....do you think its my tranny or a sensor???
