Bilstein shocks question

Wanting to get new shocks. Bilstein is running a deal on buy 3, get one free. So my question is, which shock to get. My tbars are cranked, and I have 285/75 (33") tires. Bilstein 5100 series doesn't have a shock for none lifted trucks. So my question is, would the tbars cranked and 33s be a reason to get a 5100 series, or should I stay with the 4600 series?

If I do get the 4600 series, should I put in 0" lift on front and rear?

Also, I plan on doing a BL and running 35s. Not sure how soon though. So, that is the reason I wanted to get the 5100 series now. So I wouldn't have to get new shocks down the road.

Advice please and thankyou.

I'm not sure which shock will be best, but you need OEM length.

Was 2 secs. away from ordering when I read on another site that the rear shocks for the 4" lifted F150s will work in a stock height one. They have the same mounts and the same compressed length just extra over all travel. Plus they aren't in the blue/yellow color.
This sound like a line of BS, or legit?

Im trying to do the same exact thing except mine is 2wd. They list the same shock part number for a 3" lift through 6" lift in the front. Ive 1.5 or 2" coil spacers and spindles but might pick up 2.5 or 3" coil spacers or lift coils soon. I tried to call bilstein this afternoon but they close at 4:30. Im thining what you heard might be correct if the shock Im looking at fits 3" through 6" of lift.

Would this affect the ride quality at all of the shock has extra travel, or will I not even notice it?

i dont know...that is what Im trying to figure out. I am actually looking for a longer shock because I think that is what is limiting my down travel right now (because the coil spacer I think), but I dont think you need extra travel for your setup. I think Im gonna wait and just call Bilstein monday morning to make sure I get the right ones. By the way where were you looking at buying them?

shockwarehouse. They are doing the buy 3, get 1 free. Plus 5% discount to F150online, plus free shipping.
Was gonna do summit since I've had good exp. with them, but they can't beat shockwarehouse. Plus I did a search, and SWH has some good reviews. I didn't want to wait till Monday, but I guess I will, so I can talk to a bilstein rep.

To find up what shock you need, jack your truck up, compress the suspension as far as it will go- measure the length between shock mounts, let the suspension droop, measure the length between shock mounts, go and buy shocks that match those measurements.

JNC995... You need shocks for a stock truck. Even though you have your bars cranked up, this does not "lift" the struck. Your truck is still stock. Therefore, the 5100s are not an option for you. Just get the HD shocks for your application. Also for your knowledge, tire diameter has zero effect on which shock you choose.

Having extra travel does not affect the ride. But this isn't something you should be concerned with right now. Just buyin a stock shock will keep you out of trouble. FWIW, bilstein HDs and 5100s are the exact same shock except for the length for lifted applications. No other difference. Still getting an awesome product in the HDs.

Stay with the 4600 series (although they aren't as purdy)

Yes

A body lift and bigger tires will not affect you down the road. You are not affecting the suspension. If you go with a suspension lift, almost all kits contain or mention new shocks. Note that I have a 3" lift, 35s and aftermarket shocks already, as well as others (like Wandell). Hope that helps.

My rear procomp shocks didn't fit when they came in. Know why? 'Cause 4wheelparts screwed up the order. Although I didn't read the entire 2 pages, I'd be more worried about them sending the wrong parts rather than a reputable business like Bilstein manufacturing the wrong part for thousands to millions of trucks.

Just my take on the issue

Basically what they are saying is that the 4 series tend to run on the short side for our trucks.
I'm not saying it is true. Just asking if anyone else has heard or had this problem. Would be pretty crappy to take off old shocks, just to have the new ones be an inch short.

I have already ordered mine, so nothing I can do now anyways, gonna just have to wait and see. I ordered mine from shockwarehouse though. I will never order from 4wheelparts. Learned that back in the jeep days.
