starting problems

i have 97 f150 with a 4.2 liter v6 auto transmission sometimes when you turn the key it will not do anything. if i keep trying it the auto door locks start locking and unlocking. i tried jumping the solenoid it worked the first time. then when it did it again i tried the solenoid trick again but didnt work. even tried the transmission in neutral position. when it gets ready it goes ahead and starts. i did notice the buzzer goes off like you have the keys in the ignition when they are no keys in it if you bump the ignition with your hand the buzzer goes off. wonder if it might be the ignition going out?????????

Thanks

Probably a failing GEM. Do a search on the site to see if other symptoms match yours.
