i didnt tape mine but i have heard of some others that have done it and it peels the stickers off

yea i was careful because i heard other guys have had problems with them just basically disintegrating but mine were fine

just did mine today, really like it alot i tool the xlt lettering off and left triton v8 black looks sweet no pics its raining out now

Did mine too both the driverside and tailgate was fine, but the passenger side was peeling paint, but it was doing that even before! but anyways it still looks killer!

yes it definetely adds something when you see just a chrome emblem. beats paying for new ones!

I think mine are all black, does that mean there plastic or is there chrome underneath everything?

Is it true that the this does not work on 97 year trucks? I've heard that it has different paint or it was baked on or something like that. Has anyone done this to a 97??

ON 97's and some 98's it's just black under the black paint. I replaced my tailgate and it came off of a 98 and I couldn't make it chrome because of the black under the paint.
