"New" truck

Finally, I am the happy owner of a newer f150. I ran across a garage kept 4x4 with 25k. It is a v6 5spd XL. It drives great and is in like new condition.

Does anyone have suggestions or pointers for this truck to get started right with it? I want to keep it up and get the most out of it. I just bought some seat covers. My brother in law advised this since his 02 seats are badly torn. by the time I got them I found a pencil point sized hole in the passenger seat. The factory covers are weak.

Also, any inexpensive tips for increasing the gas mileage? It is better than my old 92, but any improvements would be a plus.

I think I will need to change my login. My new truck is white/silver. I should have thought of that.

Hate to rain on your parade, but your name can't be changed, and neither can you get a new profile/screen name.

But congrats on the new truck.
Gotta love the 4.2!

Nice find. Only 25K miles on an 03? Sweet. What kind of seats do you currently have? I would assume it's the bench seat since it's an XL. I personally would search around for an XLT 60\40 seat with the center console. It will bolt up nicely.

No big deal on the login. I'll live with it.

Mine has the 40/60 seats. It is one of the XL's with some XLT options. Nicer wheels, XLT seats CD etc.

The 4.2 is great. Has torque, but the truck is geared a little high. I think it will do well for what I need.

The man who owned it had a dually and did not drive this one much. He sold it back to the dealer where he bought it new for some $ to put on a new camper. I didn't meet him, but talked to him on the phone. I think he was 61 and a trucker.

Good find!

In my opinion, the XL V6 is Ford's most reliable truck. They're not fast or flashy, but they're a good solid ride that can be picked up for a good price.
