back seat question in 99 supercab

hi all, new to the forum here.

i have a 99 supercab with 4 opening doors. i cant tell if the back seat folds in any way/shape/form. i see there are brackets underneath that are mounted to the floor, making it appear that it wouldnt. but the seat is split like a 60/40 which would make me think it would. a friend has an 02 f150 supercab and his is different and folds up easily.

anyone know? id also like to mount some amps behind the seat back, on the wall. do i have to remove the damn seat to do this??

if it's like my 97, the back seat part is stationary. the seat part "flips" open to lay things flat.

and if it's like my 02', there is a black handle on each side of the bench. Lift the lever up and it will release bottom seat cushions and they will flip back towards the seat back.

Early model years the seats flipped down to display a flat loading floor, while the newer years provided the cushions to fold up against the seat. Personally, I love my fold-down seats. A few blankets and a pillow makes a bed

x2 on the flip down. I wish my seats did that. I have more room for tall items but I would much rather the flat, wider surface with the flip down.

if you need to remove the back seat for a sub install, you'll need a T-50 bit to remove the bolts.

My 98 has a cloth strap , like the end of a dirt bike tie down. It's shoved back behind the seat, you have to shove your hand in there and fish around for it lol. Then give it a yank , seat folds forward.

Yea, I had to lift the rear up 7" to my amp/subs under their. There really isn't a way to keep the fold down option. I miss that too.

It's easy to fab up something to keep the flip action, but the seat itself needs to tuck under a bit as it folds. With all my sh^t under there, that isn't happening.

Yea , but he has 99 - Could be the same as the 98. Not sure, I think they went to 4 doors in 99 - Probably changed the seats at that point.
