Super cab back seat with head rests?

What year did headrests get added to the back seat? My little boy sits back there and I noticed that his head will take the impact if we get rear-ended?

TT

1998 Super cab, 4X4

I think it was late 2001 on the supercrew.

I can't find any extended cab f150 on ebay 1997-2003 with rear headrests.

Yeah, I have a Super Cab. Wish I had a 'Crew, but not gonna happen.

Thinking I would swap in back seat from something newer if it had head rests.

My 02 GMC extended cab had headrests in back. You may not want to switch from a Ford... but purely for your boy's safety you may be able to trade someone for a GM with headrests.

you could have someone make your seats have head rests but there's no room for the boys legs if you bolt in a supercrew rear seat

What if it was just the seat back of a supercrew?

no the seat is much deeper on the crew config. and much different bolt pattern on how it bolts to the floor.

Im gonna agree with the above post, and you can get some headrests put in. Not alot to the setup, just an aluminum rod shoved down in the foam of the seat, bolted in a few points with a head rest dropped and clipped into it.....

Do you have grey or tan seats? You could probably just slip a factory head rest between the back of the seat and the plastic trim on the back wall, and it will be tall enough for a kid. You wouldnt be able to telescope it up any, but it would be better then nothing.

True. I could just buy a booster seat with a head rest.

After some thought I pictured what you referring to deeper...bummer

How about the top half of a General Motors pickup extended cab seat? I would need to come up with seat covers, and some mounting changes....Any one have measurement specs on that?

I appreciate the sounding board.

Can't help to much but I'm sure if youre willing to fork over the $$$ a custom auto shop could fab up some headrests, never personally seen it done but anythings possible with enough time and cash.

What about the back of a 2004 and newer extended cab or a Super Duty?
