New Supercrew owner

Hey guys, I'm Justin from Houston and I just picked up a 2001 Supercrew Lariat 2wd yesterday. I have had several trucks in the past, both Ford and GM but I think I really like this one. I have not had it long enough to do anything but find the door entry code and install my garage door opener but I do have plans for lifting it. I have been searching and see several options for the lift but I still have a lot of homework to do. I have lifted several trucks in the past, even a custom set-up on an Isuzu Trooper.

If there is anything I need to know about or watch out for on this truck please let me know!

Cruise Control Recall

I think your year model falls in the range of the recall. See it the cruise switch that connects to the brake master cylinder has a fusible link attached to it. If not then you run the risk of a fire and could burn your house down if you park in your garage. That is the most pressing issue you need to check up on.

Welcome to the site, you can learn a great deal here. Like the guy said, check your cruise control, as it has been recalled---find out if yours has been taken care of.

This site has been a great help to me.

The cruise control recall has not been done yet, or at least hasn't been logged with Ford. I haven't looked for the f.l. yet but will today. My only complaint so far is the leather on the steering wheel. I looked at several of these trucks and they all had the same problem, the leather on the wheel is stretched really bad and doesn't hold in place. I searched for this on here but found nothing. I guess I'm going to have an uphoulstery shop re-wrap it or order a new one. Are there any F150online friendly Ford shops that offer a discount?

Other than that there are a couple of previous owner add-ons that need to come off, like these cheap looking plastic trim rings around the side view mirrors.

Thanks for the welcome all!

took about an hour, but half of that i disconnected the battery and sat around for awhile just to make sure everything was drained so i didnt catch an air bag to the face during the process. 2 screws for the airbag, disconnect the wiring, 1 bolt for the steering wheel then get a puller to take it off, or use a mallet or something. then just stick the new one on, make the electrical connections and put the bolt back in, air bag goes back on and your done
